2016 Renault Master with Clever Features

Renault has given its Master LCV some refinements and a twin turbo-diesel engine

What is it?

The European van market is largely dominated by Renault and the latest Master is a bright evidence of it. The vehicle offers a number of thoughtful and practical features and so it ticks all the boxes one could possibly need. Last year when it was introduced to the Australian market, it received a four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine under Energy dCi165 badge. When paired with an automated-manual transmission (AMT), the dCi150, used previously in Master, lacks 10kW/10Nm as compared to the new dCi165 engine.

What’s being offered?

A brilliantly finished cabin is revealed through the doors that open wide enough. The cabin gets two-tone design that gives it an impressive look. To store all manner of items, the cabin boosts a number of storage trays and compartments. It also offers bottle and cup holders at the right place, adding more practicality. If you need more storage tray and cup holders, then all you need to do is to forward the centre seat back folds and get large flat workspace that can be angled towards passenger or the driver itself. Large air-conditioning controls along with other controls are easy to get to and easy to use. Other standard features are speed limiter, cruise control, radio with CD/MP3 and audio streaming, gear-change indicator, reverse parking sensors and a chilled glove box. Ford Transit van is the only vehicle that has outdone the Master when it comes to the noise suppression in the cabin. The Master engine is so quiet that you barelyhear a sound – and that probably would be of turbo kicking in.

What about the load bay?

A side sliding door and two 50:50 barn doors at the rear make the loading bay easily assessable at all time. You get 10 tie-down anchor points to safely hold the cargo and the access is made easy with the rear doors that open 270 degrees. The load floor height offered by Renault Master engines put the vehicle in the lowest competitors segment. The measurement between wheel-arches of Master are the second biggest in the family. Renault Master sips only 8.7L/100km when it comes to the fuel economy.
