Old fashioned Viano converted into the V-Class for 2015, new V-Class offers modern technologies and eco-friendly diesel engines

Mercedes-Benz never let its models unattended when it comes to transformation. They have done the same with its Viano vans, it’s the thoroughly redesigned Mercedes-Benz van named as V-Class and it has its aim to outshine the rivals like Ford Tourneo Custom and Volkswagen T6 Caravelle. Mercedes never let down its customers in the field of modernisation even it is a car or a light commercial vehicle. New V-Class uses the most modern technologies and latest materials and infotainment system. There is only one area that lags behind in this modernisation, maybe it was already ultra-modern. It is the engine compartment that carries a 2.1-litre diesel engine in the V250. This engine has been carried over from the previous model but with necessary revisions and updates. Carbon emissions are claimed at 166g/km and officially it manages 44.8mpg on average. These figures are better than both rivals of Mercedes-Benz V250. Aside from some cold-start growling, this V-Class diesel engine gives a very refined performance from its four cylinders. It is impressively smooth and offers almost vibration free cruising at low engine revs. Performance is very best with 9.1 seconds from zero to 62 miles per hour. A seven-speed dual clutch automatic transmission is mated to this 2.1-litre four cylinder diesel engine that works well in all conditions. Moving between gears is very great and fuss free. 2.1-litre engine generates 187bhp of power at 3800rpm and a hefty torque of 325lb-ft starts from 1400rpm and continue till 2400rpm. This V-Class V250 has a curb weight of 2105kg but it still capable of running at 129mph of top speed. Price wise it counts some way more than VW T6 which is almost £3000 less than the V250. At £10,000 less expensive, the Tourneo Custom is far behind in the list of available standard equipment.
