It has captured the market but there are tough competitors as well like the Ford Focus, Vauxhall Astra, Skoda Octavia, Hyundai i30, Seat Leon and above all the Volkswagen Golf. Toyota has been one of its great rivals for many years with its stylish brands and competent engines range. Toyota Auris is a car of its class. The engineering branch has been working on a special model for three years to produce a special car for the audience. The Honda NSX Hybrid Version is the car of next generation. The Honda Civic hatchback with new features is a good edition overall with good and wide double decker dashboard, plenty of boot space and fine interior. Honda has produced subcompact class of cars from 1972-2000 and compact cars from 2000-present. Based on Civic theme the Honda Civic Coupe was launched in 2015, the hatchback prototype with 1.0 litre, 1.5 litre and 1.6 litre diesel is also available in the market, type R with 2.0 litre turbocharged four-cylinder and Type Si with 1.5 litre turbocharged engine is present. Though Honda Civic is a little bit dear than its rivals but comes with plenty of equipment. Its S-series, Se-series and EX-series all are well fitted with features that misses in its rivals. The Honda Civic Type R is the best hatchback car ever made by, it is critics’ analysis. The Honda has used several types of engines for its Civic range all over the world. It starts from 1.4litre, 1.6litre, 1.8litre, 2.0litre, 2.4litre and 1.5litre in its hybrid project. These petrol units have their worth worldwide. In diesel power train there is a 1.6 litre turbo diesel and a 2.2 litre turbo diesel (USA) unit.

Petrol Engines

Honda Civic three-cylinder 1.0-litre petrol engine is the key version of all petrol units, produced by Honda. It produces 127bhp with efficient fuel economy of 60m/g with very low emissions of CO2 as 104g/km. After that there is a 100bhp non-turbo 1.4 litre petrol engine available in lineup which is powerful with good fuel economy of 50m/g. The power delivery of this 1.4 litre engine is remarkably efficient. There is a 1.5 litre four-cylinder petrol engine that produces 180bhp. It is a turbo unit with 180lb/ft of torque, means good speed with great pull. It is as smooth as the diesel version of Honda Civic. Though its fuel economy is not as good as 1.0 litre or Civic 1.4-litre units, but it maintains 47.1m/g with 137g/km of CO2 emissions. The six-speed manual gear box is as standard but there is a re-engineered CVT transmission system used in 1.6 litre diesel engine with two pedal options.
Honda Hatchback Engine
In Honda hatchback 1.4 litre petrol takes 13.4 seconds to get from 0-62m/h with maximum speed of 116m/h is a cheap choice to run but for speed 1.8litre petrol is good with 0-62m/h in 9.1seconds. This is the only petrol version which is available in five-speed automatic transmission but without fuel efficient stop-start unit. There is a 2.0 litre turbocharged petrol unit for Honda Civic Type R. This petrol engine produces 300bhp of power and good amount of torque. It takes 5.7 seconds to get from 0-62m/h. It is the fastest version of petrol engine lineup.
Honda Civic with diesel engines give more comfort to drive than petrol engines along with perfect fuel efficiency
Honda Civic 1.6 litre diesel engine is the most efficient engine with 79m/g fuel average. It is powerful and with plenty of pulling power, thanks to its healthy amount of torque. It produces 125bhp and 225lb/ft of torque. It takes 10.5 seconds to get from 0-62m/h with top speed of 129m/h which is exceptional for such a heavy car like Honda Civic. If you need more speed with refinement then there is a 2.2litre diesel engine. It is known as green edition of engine in all Honda Civic engines because of its low emissions of Co2 as 98g/km

Hybrid version is also impressive one

With maximum power of 120bhp a 1.5 litre petrol unit is equipped with an electric motor in Honda hybrid. The IMA system is installed to control the combined power of the engine and its performance is really good. Unlike Toyota Prius, the Honda Civic hybrid is seldom powered directly by the electric cells. Honda Civic Hybrid is a title winning in its class due to efficient performance and low carbon emissions.

The new Honda Civic gives the extreme pleasure of drive with its hi-tech equipments

The new Honda Civic is equipped with latest technology which gives better performance on the road than its predecessors. The latest fluid filled rear suspensions are good in performance, adjusting the car according to the road conditions and give a nice and smooth drive. With this tech Honda can be compared with Volkswagen Golf, which is known as elite in comfort and smoothness. The slippery aerodynamics of its shape gives less wind pressure and helps it to maintain good acceleration and speed without noise. The new Honda is quiet and smooth on motorway cruising. The new electric power steering system gives a good road grip on high speed and well enough in maneuvering. There are some critics who have some problems with its design, especially with giant rear pillars which create hindrance in outer view.
