Improved Efficiency

The French Peugeot 308 is a small hatchback with good stylish outlook, high standard of interior fitting, low in running cost and vast range of engines. A small car has become a big challenge to its rivals due to its practicality. The Peugeot 308 is an entirely improved version. It is a family hatchback class of car with lot of new features such as a spacious boot, LED headlamps, large central touch screen and a full-length panoramic roof.

Rivals

The Peugeot 308 has proved its worth in the market, though there are tough and worthy competitors like the Volkswagen Golf, Vauxhall Astra, Ford Focus, Seat Leon, Hyundai i30, Honda Civic and Renault Megane, but this small hatchback has made its ground because of its efficient performance overall. It has become a comfortable cruiser with its i-Cockpit style of layout.
Trims
Four trim levels are there as Access, Active, Allure and Feline. An excellent collection of powerful, well refined and eco-friendly power machines under the bonnet, especially the diesel engines.
Engines
The Peugeot 308 has vast variety of six petrol engines and four diesel engines for its clients. Diesels are more popular than its petrol versions. There is the 1.6 litre BlueHDi diesel engine with two different outputs of 100 bhp and 120 bhp. As far as the performance is concerned the first version is taken as an entry-level engine. It takes 11.3 seconds to get from0-62m/h with top speed of 116m/h. It is a very economical version in fuel consumption. It gives, 79m/g of fuel average and emits less than 100g/km of CO2. It is available in five-speed manual gearbox. The other version of this engine with 120bhp is more powerful and efficient than the entry-level diesel engine. It takes 9.7 seconds to get from 0-62m/h with maximum speed of 122m/h. it gives an impressive figure, 91m/g of fuel average  with low emissions, less than 100g/km of Co2. This version is equipped with six-speed manual gearbox as standard.

Peugeot’s EAT System

The Peugeot 308 has introduced a 1.6 litre BlueHDi 120 with six-speed Efficient Automatic Transmission (EAT6) system. This combination is faster than the manual set-up. It takes 9.4 seconds to get from0-62m/h with good fuel average of 88m/g. After 1.6 versions the Peugeot has introduced its 2.0 litre BlueHDi in two different outputs of 150 bhp and 180 bhp. The 150bhp is equipped with the EAT6 system as standard and six-speed manual gearbox as optional. It is a powerful engine with lot of torque. The engine is capable to take the Peugeot 308 from0-62m/h in 8.6 seconds with top speed of 132m/h. It claims a superb fuel average of 78m/g with manual gearbox and 70.5m/g with EAT6. The 180bhp version is more faster than 150, it is available only in EAT6 system. It takes only 8.4 seconds to get from0-62m/h with top speed of 137m/h.

Petrol Engine Range

The petrol engines range starts with entry-level 1.4litre VTI petrol engine. It is lethargic in performance. It takes 14 seconds to get from 0-62m/h. There are two Pure-Tech 1.2litre e-THP petrol engines with 110bhp and 130bhp. They are fast and made for travelling with speed. The 110 bhp version takes 11 seconds to finish0-62m/h sprint with top speed range of 107m/h and 130bhp takes 10.3 seconds with top speed of 117m/h.

Top of the Range Engine

At the top of petrol range there is a Pure-Tech 1.6 litre THP with 205bhp, 250 bhp and 270 bhp. All these versions are well capable for speed and acceleration. The 205 bhp version can take the Peugeot 308 from 0-62m/h in 7.5 seconds. The Pure-Tech 250 does it in 6.2 and 270bhp version takes just 6.0 seconds. The 1.6 litre Pure-Tech version is equipped with manual gear box as standard.
