The Retro Citroen E-Mehari Buggy Revealed
August 11, 2016
The French automaker is setting its foot into new waters
The Citroen E-Mehari buggy comes with a 68bhp electric motor and has a 124-mile range. It’s retro, funny and simple, but pricey and shows Citroen’s funny side. You return it after you are done and it is an ideal holiday hire. This new adventure seems to be a revival from the past as Citroen revives the Mehari legend to become an electric, open-top beach buggy. The latest vehicle is called the E-Mehari which is powered by a 68bhp electric motor and a 124 mile range designed for the quiet life on the coast. The ribbed door pattern and undulating lines of the E-Mehari are a signal to the design of the late sixties Mehari. However, the difference between the two is more striking as Citroen’s family face has been put on to the front. It is quirky, but not comfortable. The acceleration dies down after around 35mph, given the manner in which the E-Mehari deals with bumps and corners, you won’t want to be travelling much quicker. The E-Mehari is also expensive at 27,000 Euros, and that’s before the 87 Euros per month you have to pay to hire batteries. It will not be sold in the UK.Categories
